My world comes crashing down after the worst breakup ever. With a broken heart and no aspiration whatsoever, I fly to Portugal, but instead of having fun in the sun, I’m crying in a cemetery—my go-to place when I feel like crying. There, I meet Ivan, a quirky, talkative seagull who offers an interesting deal: if I agree to meet the world-renowned spiritual Guru Emi, he will arrange for me to meet the ghost of my dead best friend, Dana. She died when we were twelve.
Longing to see my friend again, I set out on a spiritual quest and travel to the desert with Ivan, only to discover that the guru is a gorgeous man, whose charm I simply can’t resist. To complicate matters, my ex’s best friend hits on me, a ghost from Obidos pays a visit and shares secrets from the afterlife, and Ivan, who claims to be a cursed ex-womanizer, insists that I’m the one person who can break his curse.
My world feels like it’s spiraling out of control. But it’s only when everything falls apart that life starts making sense. Will I ever see Dana again? Could I break the spell and help Ivan regain his human form? Could our friendship turn into a happily ever after when his witch of an ex is lurking in the shadows?
