Out of the ashes of war, their passion flamed anew Against the ravaged post-war landscape of the Deep South, a great love story unfolds. Emilie, mistress of Les Chandelles, is determined to build a new life with Jason, the husband she adores. Jason, a former Union officer, crushed by t hheorrors of war and is aftermath, struggles to uphold the principles for which he has fought and suffered. Meanwhile, the conquered land is overrun by the vengeance, lust and depredations of the infamous Ku Klux Klan. Together they must pit their devotion and desire against the forces of violence and hatred which threaten destruction of everything both hold most dear.
