I simply lost it.
Reaching for the nearest thing I could find, which turned out to be a half-full pot of pasta sauce, I chucked it at him. “You insufferable, arrogant pig!”
The pot landed with a tremendous clang on the floor and red sauce splattered everywhere, including on Austin’s shoes.
Glancing at his shoes and giving a savage growl, Austin turned around. He grabbed at a stack of plates and threw them at my head. He missed. All plates shattered on the wall behind me.
We stood there, staring at each other, chests heaving.
Without another word, I stepped forward, perhaps to attack Austin. Silently he met me halfway.
I reached for his face, and he reached for me as we collided.
His strong arm slipped around my waist, pulling me against his lean and hard body. My hands found his face and pulled him in. I felt the prickle of his beard stubble on the palm of my hand.
His dark unreadable eyes stared down into mine.
Standing in the mess, still furious and burning with pent-up emotion, we kissed.
